Regional Officer Position Descriptions

PRESIDENT

  • Preside at all regional meetings
  • Give a speech at the Regional Convention on the International Honors Study Topic
  • Introduce speakers
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)

VICE PRESIDENT

  • Help preside at all regional meetings
  • Give a speech at the Regional Convention on the International Honors Study Topic
  • Introduce speakers
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)

SECRETARY

  • Give a speech at the Regional Convention on the International Honors Study Topic
  • Call the roll at all regional meetings
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)

HISTORIAN

  • Give a speech at the Regional Convention on the International Honors Study Topic
  • Design and create a cover and layout for the regional yearbook
    • Yearbook materials extend from regional convention to regional convention
    • Cover should reflect International Honors Study Topic
  • Contact chapters in the region and request materials to be included within the yearbook regarding their chapter’s activities
  • Plan and assemble the region’s yearbook
  • Display the yearbook at the Regional Convention
  • Store and maintain the yearbook on the campus of the regional historian
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)
  • The history of the region may be captured in a slideshow/video presentation.

REPORTER

  • Give a speech at the Regional Convention on the International Honors Study Topic
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)
  • Request news and pictures from all chapters within the region
  • Compile news articles and pictures for publication in the regional newsletter
  • Publish and distribute the newsletter to all chapters within the region. Copies should also be sent to the Center for Excellence, International Officers and Regional Coordinators
  • Use the Regional Logo and Name on all newsletters.  Identify the volume and number of each publication

  • Create a format for the regional newsletter
  • Ensure that the quality of the production is of the highest quality possible

DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES (Northern, Central and Southern)

  • Promote the Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa among the chapters within their district

  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)

LOUISIANA REPRESENTATIVE

  • Promote the involvement of Louisiana
  • Prepare presentations and lead seminars or forums (usually at Leadership Conference)
